About SHINOLA + FISHER SPACE PEN CO. – BOULDER CITY, NV

The Fisher Space Pen was invented by American industrialist and pen manufacturer, Paul C. Fisher, and is manufactured in Boulder City, Nevada. Fisher first patented the AG7 “anti-gravity pen” or “Astronaut pen” in 1965. After intensive testing, NASA decided to use it on its spaceflights beginning in 1967. According to Fisher Space Pen Company, the pen was not only used for writing in micro gravity, but the Apollo 11 astronauts also used the pen to fix a broken arming switch, enabling their safe return to earth.
